Wonderland

So similar, so different; our worlds collide
I dream of a place where you won’t run and hide

Soothing warm arms carry me to rest
Holding me tight and safe against their beating chest

You’ll reach out for my cheek and lean in for a kiss
In my wonderland, I’m someone that you miss

You’d hold each moment dear, keep me in your sight
Hold me against your body and stay with me through the night

I toss and turn; I wake to terror on my face
This is my unreality, no certain dreaming place

I’m haunted by the memory of a heartbeat I can’t hear
Drowning in the misery of inflicted pain and fear

No comfort will arrive for me, like a knight in wake or sleep
So the nightmares will continue letting insecurity creep

No one can fix what’s broken, that fear deep inside of me
But I dream of a wonderland where my fears can be set free
